The newly developed Rockhampton Airport is just a short 10 minute drive from town, with multiple flights to and from Brisbane daily, direct flights from Townsville, Sydney and Melbourne and connections on to other ports around Australia and internationally.
Transport options when you arrive:
- Hire a rental car
- Jump in a taxi
- Catch a bus
Self-drive touring routes are a popular way to explore the region with major highways connecting Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne in the south and Cairns in the north. Once in region, choose from one of the many self-drive tours and itineraries whether you explore the Tropic of Capricorn out west, take a scenic trip out to the Capricorn coastline or uncover the lush National Parks that dot the region.
You can catch the Tilt train from Brisbane to Rockhampton.
Hire a car from the airport and head to Keppel Bay Marina along the Capricorn Coast where you can catch a daily ferry service to Great Keppel Island. Stay a night or two, or explore the tour options available for a cruise around the Keppel Island group.
