Our Rooms

There are various options in this room category and all feature ensuite, air conditioning and fans and are close to the central facilities. Each of the Heritage Houses is unique and has been brought to Gwinganna piece by piece from various locations or built on site in the original Queenslander style.

Built from beautiful Australian reclaimed timbers with soaring ceilings, natural stone bathrooms, timber floors and spacious verandahs, the Orchard Suites are nestled into Gwinganna’s orchard. Choices include a deluxe studio with ensuite featuring a verandah and sitting area, or a two bedroom suite with two bathrooms, shared relaxation lounge and verandah. These rooms are aptly named the Valencia, Mulberry, Olive, Macadamia and Lychee Suites.

Tucked away in the mountain scape surrounded by native plants and trees creating the ultimate space to rest. Billabong Villas
Two large serene villas built from Australian reclaimed timbers using rich, warm colours that make the most of the natural beauty of the surrounding environment. Cantilevered over a secluded billabong the split level villas are easily accessible from the main facilities and feature a private steam room, outdoor deck and deep bath.

Meditation Suites

Within Gwinganna’s orchard lie three premium Meditation Suites, custom designed to help you focus on mindfulness. Willows Gemfields

Willows Gemfields is 11 kilometres off the Capricorn Highway, 24 kilometres past the Anakie/Sapphire crossroads and about 45 minutes' drive west of Emerald. The Willows Gemfields is a popular fossicking spot, as very little machinery and no corporate mining has been permitted in the past.

Emerald

How did Emerald get its name? It's thanks to a lush green hill - emerald in colour - located just north of the town called 'Emerald Downs Hill'. Established in 1879, this large country town has become the hub of the Central Highlands and gateway to one of the largest sapphire fields in the southern hemisphere.

Situated in a delightful valley with spectacular Mount Zamia and Virgin Rock overlooking the town, Springsure is located 66 kilometres south of Emerald on the Gregory Highway section of the Great Inland Way.

Stubby Bend

On the banks of the Barcoo River away from the highway noise, Stubby Bend offers fully self-contained travellers a free site for camping. A variety of birds visit the area throughout the day, you can watch the kangaroos grazing in the afternoons, and quite often at night friendly possums will visit your camp site.

Crystal clear springs add more than ten million litres of water a day to peaceful Louisa Creek and the Nogoa River as they meander beneath a backdrop of rocky sandstone crags and spires. Named by explorer Sir Thomas Mitchell in 1846, Salvator Rosa is at the western edge of the Central Queensland Sandstone Belt.
