A "must do" for every visitor to Mossman Gorge are the Indigenous guided Dreamtime Walks, conducted by the local Indigenous people. Ngadiku (Nar-di-gul) meaning stories and legends from a long time ago in local Kuku Yalanji language, takes visitors on a journey along private, easy graded tracks, visiting special places and culturally significant sites, past traditional bark shelters and over meandering cool rainforest streams.

Dreamtime Gorge Walk

You are welcomed with a traditional 'smoking' ceremony that cleanses and wards off bad spirits. The walk then meanders through stunning rainforest and takes in traditional huts or humpies. Your experienced interpretive Indigenous guide demonstrates traditional plant use, identify bush food sources and provide an enchanting narrative of the rainforest and their special relationship with this unique tropical environment. A stop at 'the Beach', gives you the opportunity for a refreshing swim in this water hole, where your guide demonstrates traditions like making bush soaps and ochre painting. At the end of the tour enjoy traditional bush tea and damper.

Mossman Gorge Indigenous Half Day

Your half day tour begins with a convenient hotel pick up from Port Douglas, approximately 25 minutes from Mossman Gorge. Experience the wonders of the World Heritage-listed Daintree Rainforest at Mossman Gorge and discover pristine waterfalls, mountains and vivid flora and fauna. Your experienced Indigenous guide will demonstrate traditional plant use identify bush food and teach local traditions like making bush soaps and ochre paints.

After your guided walk, spend time browsing through the Centre's contemporary Indigenous art gallery, visit the gift shop or relax at the Mayi Cafe.
