Coral Expeditions is a 33 year old Australian expedition cruise company. They operate and manage a fleet of three small ships taking guests to some of the most beautiful, yet undiscovered, regions of Asia-Pacific. Over 5,000 travellers from all over the world come to them every year for their relaxed small ship atmosphere and itineraries which larger ships cannot replicate. Their operations are bespoke and sometimes not commercially justifiable, but result in a more personal product.

At a time when the cruise industry is moving to larger and larger ships, they have limited the size of their ships to maximise the expedition experience. Their cuisine is prepared small batch on board, and while the style is down to earth, it reflects high quality Australian produce and wine.

They operate to Australian standards of safety with Australian senior crew wherever they go. They were the first to offer interpretive programmes on their cruises and to employ Expedition Leaders, Guest Lecturers, Marine Biologists, and SCUBA Instructors – a tradition that continues today.

Cape York and Arnhem Land - from Cairns or Darwin

A journey through ancient culture and underwater worlds, the Cape York and Arnhem Land expedition voyage takes you to some of Australia’s most remote communities on Australia’s North Coast.

Commencing in Darwin or Cairns aboard either the Coral Expeditions I or Coral Discoverer, this journey takes guests to some of Northern Australia’s most incredible galleries – including Maningrida and Yirkalla Arts Centres – where traditional artists create pieces that help to preserve their unique and ancient culture.

The journey takes in the rich culture of the Tiwi Islands, and the endemic wildlife of the Coburg Peninsula, before continuing to Elcho Island. Guests will sail through the “Hole in the Wall” and cruise across the Gulf of Carpentaria.

In the Far North Queensland region, explore remote Thursday Island and Forbes Island, as well as Davey Reef and the Flinders Group of Islands, as well as tropical Lizard Island and historic Cooktown.

This is a remarkable voyage of discovery, visiting otherwise inaccessible locations and savouring a glass of champagne as the sun rises over the northern ‘Tip of Australia’ on the Cape York Peninsula.

Moogerah is located one hour's drive south west of Brisbane via the Cunningham Highway. For a little more scenery, take the route from Ipswich or the Gold Coast through Boonah's countryside.
