The picturesque Lake Awoonga boasts excellent recreational water sport and fishing facilities and is located just a short 20 minute drive, south of Gladstone.

Lake Awoonga Boating and Leisure Hire have a wide range of kayaks, boats, stand up paddle boards and a barbecue pontoon that are available for hire seven days a week! Kayaks include single, fishing, double and even kayaks for the juniors, making it easy for the whole family to join in the fun!

No licence or experience is required to operate or hire any of the boats and all boats come with safety equipment and fuel included in the hire price.

Enthusiastic anglers come to Lake Awoonga to catch the famed Barramundi, so come down to the lake shop, hire a kayak or a boat and try your luck!

Our Hire

Hire Boats

They have three 4.2 metre Smartwave Boats (licensed to carry five passengers) and three 3.5 metre Smartwave Boats (licensed to carry four passengers).

No licence required to operate! (15 horse-power motor can be restricted to 10 knots). All boats come equipped with life jackets and all the required safety equipment including a Safety Management System (SMS) and a map of Lake Awoonga. A full safety briefing will be given before hiring their boats.

Barbecue Pontoon Boat (No Licence Required)

Barbecue Pontoon Boat is licenced for 12 people (weight to 816 kilograms).

The Pontoon includes toilet facilities, barbecue, fish Finder and am/fm stereo with Bluetooth /usb connection. The Barbecue Pontoon is perfect for ‪‎bucks parties, hens parties‬, birthday parties‬, work parties‬, social club‬ or just getting a group of friends together for a day on the beautiful ‪Lake Awoonga‬.

You can also hire a Kayak or SUP to take for the duration or bring your own.

Kayaks and Stand up paddle boards

Kayaks include single, fishing, double and even kayaks for the juniors, making it easy for the whole family to join in the fun! They also have SUP boards available for hire.
