The Gladstone Region | Things to See and Do

Located in the heart of the Southern Great Barrier Reef, Queensland’s Gladstone region has plenty to offer from fishing, camping and hiking, to snorkelling or surfing.

  • Secluded coral cays are literally at your doorstep. Swim with the turtles at Heron Island, or take a cruise over to Lady Musgrave Island for a snorkel in the calm reef lagoon where you can even pitch a tent and spend the night!
  • Give your hiking boots a workout and explore the region’s agricultural and mining heart - there is plenty of four-wheel-driving, hiking and bushwalking to be done in the huge array of beautiful National Parks.
  • Take that fishing trip you’ve always wanted. Head inland to some of Queensland’s top freshwater fishing spots and experience the thrill of catching a barra or mangrove jack or join a charter and drop a line in the Southern Great Barrier Reef.
  • Settle in at one of Gladstone’s relaxed coastal communities with beautiful family-friendly beaches and plenty of activities to keep active including kayaking, snorkelling, surfing or sand boarding.
