Sweetwater Lodge, Luxury Port Douglas Hinterland Accommodation on the northern rim of the Atherton Tablelands, offers guests a unique Australian holiday experience in the cool tropical climate of Julatten, in Queensland's Tropical North.

Sweetwater consists of two luxury, private, and spacious self contained retreats set on160 acres surrounded by a beautiful mountain range just one and a quarter hours north of Cairns International Airport or 25 minutes from Port Douglas.

The beautifully presented, architect designed, self contained holiday retreats each accommodate two people in a luxurious king bed. The retreats are finished to a very high degree of comfort with absolute attention to detail. Unique features of the accommodation include a well equipped al fresco kitchen situated on the verandah overlooking the mountains and an indoor/outdoor shower.

The property boasts a range of habitats including a beautiful private rainforest walk, a permanent freshwater creek offering numerous swimming holes, which meanders through the property, wallabies, platypus and other marsupials together with an abundance of birdlife. A bush barbecue facility on the edge of the creek is the perfect place in which to relax and watch the sun go down.

Our Rooms

Each lodge consists of a spacious entry area with desk and chair, suitcase set down, fridge and tea and coffee facilities. The en-suite indoor/outdoor bathroom is situated to the left of the entry consisting of indoor/outdoor shower, bath, toilet and vanity. Hairdryer and bathroom amenities also supplied. Beyond the entry area is the king bed which then leads into the lounge area consisting large corner lounge suite, coffee table, LCD television, DVD player and wood burning fireplace. The al fresco kitchen is situated on the verandah to the right of the lounge area and includes table and chairs, well-equipped kitchen with barbecue and four burner cooktop.

Sundown National Park

Glenlyon Dam is ideal for wildlife viewing and many water sports including skiing, sailing and fishing. Fish species in the dam include Golden Perch, Murray Cod, Silver Perch, Jew and Spangled Perch. Camping sites, cabins and caravans are available at the Glenlyon Dam Tourist Park located at the waters edge.

Stanthorpe

Amiens

Amiens is one of the pretty districts in the Granite Belt region, 17 kilometres north-west of Stanthorpe. These days the area is popular for orcharding, wine making and vegetable growing and was first settled by First World War servicemen who had been granted land for fruit growing after returning from war.

Severnlea

Severnlea, Southern Downs Area
The Southern Downs village of Severnlea, on the highway south of Stanthorpe hasn't changed that much since it was first settled. There is still fruit growing and topaz fossicking, but these days you'll also discover some very good wineries.

Pozieres

Pozieres, Southern Downs Area
The Granite Belt locality of Pozieres is situated about five kilometres west of the New England Highway, with the turn-off to the south of Dalveen. It is a productive fruit and vegetable growing area and also offers easy access to recreation areas such as Donnelly's Castle, Pozieres State Forest and Passchendaele State Forest.
