Long beaches backed by high sand dunes, tranquil waterways, wildflower heaths, freshwater lakes, woodlands and forests make Cooloola a popular holiday destination and a vital refuge for coastal wildlife.

Permits are required before setting up your camp, fees apply. Vehicle Access Permits (VAPs) are also required when traversing beaches and some inland sand tracks in the Cooloola Recreation Area. A camping tag with booking number recorded on it must be displayed at camp sites. Penalties apply for non-compliance.

Our Rooms

The Teewah Beach camping area is located between Little Freshwater Creek and Noosa North Shore and is a part of the Cooloola Recreation Area Camping Ground, Great Sandy National Park. Beach camping is accessible for Four Wheel Drives only and is suitable for tents, walk-in camping; off-road caravans and camper trailers with high clearance. Remember to bring everything including freshwater, sunscreen and insect repellent! To reduce impact to the dunes use existing camp sites and access tracks, also bring sand pegs and do not tie ropes to trees.

Freshwater camping area is eight kilometres south of Double Island Point and offers shady, sheltered sites and sits back 500 metres from the beach. The camping area can be accessed by Four Wheel Drives only, vehicle access permits are required to access this camping area. Advance bookings are advised for holiday periods, long weekends and public holidays.

Harrys camping area is located in Cooloola Recreation Area, Great Sandy National Park, its sits on the western bank of the Noosa River. The camping area can be reached by walking, Four Wheel Drive vehicle, boat or canoe. Vehicle permits are not required to access this camping area. High-clearance Four Wheel Drives are recommended along Harry's Hut Road, as it is an unsealed sand track prone to flood damage.

Located on the eastern banks of the Noosa River sits Camp sites 1 to 3. These can be accessed by canoe, boat or walking track (after paddling across the river from Harry's hut).The three camp sites sit among fringes of open forest or woodland. A walking track links the three camps and continues to the Coolooa Sandpatch.

The Allora Autumn Festival is held on the last weekend of April in Allora. During the festival they hold markets to coincide with events that are held around their historic town. Allora is home to Mary Poppins House, where Pamela Goff (PL Travers) grew up and Allora is also the final resting place for her father, Travers Robert Goff.
