Birdsville Races

Birdsville's busiest week of the year happens the first Friday and Saturday in September. Visitors take over this tiny outback town from all parts of Australia and the world for the Annual Birdsville Racing Carnival

Bedourie Handle Bars and Horns Bull Ride

Betoota Races

Witness the ghost town of Betoota come to life with holiday goers and Outback folk to celebrate the region’s signature event – The Betoota Races – and kicking off the Simpson Desert Racing Carnival. Firstly, chuck on your dancing shoes on Friday night for an outback bush dance followed by backing a winner in one of the six horse race meets the next day.

Australia Day Celebrations Windorah

Birdsville Races

Dubbed as the Melbourne Cup of the Outback, crowds of 6,000 racegoers converge on Birdsville each year to enjoy two day of quality outback racing and entertainment. The second race meet in the Simpson Desert Racing Carnival, the 13 race program features horses from all over Australia competing for the coveted Birdsville Cup.
