Keppel Sands

Separated by Coorooman Creek from the larger towns of Emu Park and Yeppoon to the north, Keppel Sands is a charming village-style township centred on fishing and holiday making. Facilities in Keppel Sands include a hotel, caravan park, motel, Australia Post outlet, local store, and two boat ramps.

Child Island Dive Site

The Keppels,
Child Island is one of the most exciting dive sites at the Keppel Islands off Yeppoon. Being a fair distance offshore, Child Island is best dived when conditions are calm, but this site nearly always has the best visibility in the area.

Man and Wife Rocks Dive Site

The Keppels,
There are many wonderful dive sites found around the Keppel Islands off Yeppoon, with one of the most popular sites being Man and Wife Rocks. These two rocky outcrops can be enjoyed by divers of any experience level, as there are shallow rocky reefs and walls dropping to 18 metres.

Shelving Beach Dive Site

The Keppels,
The Keppel Islands off Yeppoon are a great place for divers to explore, but this area also has some wonderful snorkelling sites, with one of the most popular being Shelving Beach. Located at the south west corner of Great Keppel Island, Shelving Beach can be a little difficult to reach without a boat, but many visitors walk the bush track to explore this secluded spot.

Ka Ka Mundi, Carnarvon National Park

The sandstone cliffs of the Great Dividing Range dominate the clear blue skyline to the south as you drive across the open, undulating country towards Ka Ka Mundi. This remote section of Carnarvon National Park features more than 30km of sandstone escarpments and plateaus.

Bluff

Bluff, Central Highlands Area
Bluff is located in the Central Highlands, 94 kilometres east of Emerald on the Capricorn Highway. A must see for rail enthusiasts, Bluff is the major interchange station for coal trains. Many trains are over two kilometres long.

Willows Gemfields

Willows Gemfields, Central Highlands Area
Willows Gemfields is 11 kilometres off the Capricorn Highway, 24 kilometres past the Anakie/Sapphire crossroads and about 45 minutes' drive west of Emerald. The Willows Gemfields is a popular fossicking spot, as very little machinery and no corporate mining has been permitted in the past.

Gracemere

Gracemere, Rockhampton Area
Gracemere is located nine kilometres west of Rockhampton, the Beef Capital of Australia. The town is home to the largest saleyards in the Southern Hemisphere and is the heart of the Capricorn cattle industry.

Nurim Circuit Elevated Boardwalk Mount Archer

Nerimbera, Rockhampton Area
Mount Archer has always been a natural beauty of the region, but now even more so with the newly constructed Nurim Circuit Elevated Board Walk. The first stage of this circuit has been completed and allows you to take in breathtaking views of the region.

Emu Park

Emu Park, Livingstone Area
Just a scenic 20 kilometre drive along the coast from Yeppoon, Emu Park is a peaceful coastal village. Once an exclusive beach resort at the turn of the 20th century, Emu Park is an idyllic seaside village with plenty of character.
