Lady Elliot Island is a coral cay located at the southern tip of Australia's World Heritage Listed Great Barrier Reef, 80 kilometres north-east of Bundaberg (north of Fraser Island). Situated within a highly protected 'Green Zone', the Island is a sanctuary for over 1200 species of marine life and is renowned for an abundance of manta rays, turtles, reef sharks, amazing array of spectacular marine life and unspoilt coral reef.

Lady Elliot Island is regarded as one of the best snorkelling and diving destinations on the Great Barrier Reef. Enjoy a glass bottom boat/guided snorkel tour, snorkel safari, snorkel straight off the beach, dive spectacular dive sites, guided reef walk, witness the magic of bird and turtle nesting and hatching season, or watch migrating humpback whales blow and breach (in season).

The unpretentious 41 room Eco Resort strives to provide guests with a genuine eco-tourism experience ranging from Eco Cabins (tents) to Two Bedroom Island Suites. In keeping with the natural, eco-friendly lifestyle there are no telephones, television or radios and all rooms are fan cooled.

Lady Elliot Island is only accessible by plane, scenic flights depart daily from Bundaberg, Hervey Bay/Fraser Coast, Brisbane (Redcliffe) and the Gold Coast.

Our Rooms

Reef Unit

Arranged in blocks of three, the Reef Units are ideal for couples or families, offering either a queen bed or a combination of a queen bed and a double bunk bed. Each unit is slightly elevated, featuring polished timber floors, ensuite bathroom and a balcony, to make the most of the views. The Reef Units are located on the beachfront, less than 10 metres walk to Sunrise beach. The Units are fan cooled and have a mini fridge, tea and coffee making facilities.

Eco Cabin (Shared Facilities)

Situated within 20 to 30 metres of the beach, the Eco Cabins are permanent safari style tents with polished wooden floors. Each cabin caters to four people with two sets of double bunk single beds with shared facilities. Electric lighting and power points are available in every cabin as well as a free standing fan. A small entry patio is furnished with chairs and a small table for added relaxation.

Island Suite (2 Bedroom)

Offering absolute beach frontage, the spacious two bedroom Island Suites accommodate up to four people and feature a separate air-conditioned lounge room and private bathroom. The Suites have a private balcony with lagoon views over Sunrise Beach and the the bedrooms have ceiling fans. Each Suite has a mini fridge, tea and coffee making facilities and a microwave.

Garden Unit

With a name like Barracuda Bommie you would expect to see barracuda at this dive site, and fortunately it rarely disappoints. Located on the Agincourt Reefs, off Port Douglas, Barracuda Bommie is a giant pinnacle of coral that rises from the sandy sea floor at 26 metres.

Castle Rock Dive Site

Castle Rock is a tower of coral at the Agincourt Reefs, accessible from Port Douglas on a day trip. Rising from 25 metres to almost break the surface, Castle Rock is home to trevally, snappers, sweetlips, goatfish, fusiliers, surgeonfish and a very friendly Malabar groper called Colin.

Nursery Bommie Dive Site

One of the most impressive dive sites on the Agincourt Reefs, off Port Douglas, is a large pinnacle called Nursery Bommie. This column of coral rises from 2 metres to 25 metres and is decorated with sea whips, soft corals and gorgonians, but it is the fish life that will be most remembered.

The Oasis Dive Site

Divers exploring The Oasis at Milln Reef, off Cairns, have a choice of exploring coral gardens in the shallows or a series of bommies in deeper water. The bommies are quite spectacular, rising from 20 to 30 metres and coloured by beautiful whip corals, soft corals and gorgonians.
