Kilcowera Station

Kilcowera Station is situated between Thargomindah and Hungerford, half way along the Dowling Track, in South West Queensland. Travellers by air or road are now able to visit the 94,000 hectare property and enjoy the rangelands, lagoons, creeks, waterholes, gorges, caves and wildlife.

Guests can take the 60 kilometres self drive property tour and visit the RAMSAR listed Lake Wyara, part of Currawinya National Park which is situated on our eastern boundary.

The isolated Murderers' Bore as featured by Evan McHugh in his book "Red Centre Dark Heart" will also be seen on the tour as well as Rustlers Roost and Cardenyabba Lagoon. Guided tours are available with hosts Greg or Toni in a station vehicle.

Accommodation is provided in comfortable Shearer's Quarters which can sleep 17. Linen is supplied and beds are made up. Bathrooms are outside and separate from the main building. Meals are available with advance bookings or you can self cater in the fully equipped kitchen. Great hospitality, tours and camp oven cooking are their speciality.

The Shearers Quarters campground has power available and access to all amenities or guests can bush camp at the Lagoon. Fireplaces and wood is supplied and pets are welcome.

Our Rooms

Landscaped camp grounds at the Shearers Quarters with shared bathrooms and power available. Other facilities include a laundry, picnic tables, barbecues and a basic camp kitchen.

Bush camping at Cardenyabba Lagoon offers secluded campsites right on the waters edge. Fireplaces are provided at both campsites and wood is supplied.
