View the present and discover the past with TMC Tours guided bus tour of the town and heritage gold mine plus all the Queensland Government rehabilitation and acid mine drainage and Dee River management projects. Traverse through the old township, with stop-offs at the suspension bridge and town lookout. Continue along the banks of the Dee River, then onto the mine site and through the old mine buildings, workings and up to the Open Cut viewing area.

See the towns historic sites, including swinging bridges, pubs,old churches and heritage listed buildings. View the the wonderful world of Michael Durrant's fossil displays in the old mine General Office, includes casts of the early Jurassic dinosaur footprints uncovered in the mine's fireclay caverns dug out by the early miners 100 years ago.

Our tours

A complete, unique, guided tour viewing the present and discovering the past. Mount Morgan township, old gold mine and Jurassic Caves.

Departing from the Mount Morgan Information Centre Railway Complex, the tour proceeds through William Street and around the Number Seven Big Dam, followed by the point stop of the recently constructed suspension Bridge.

The tour then ventures on through the town highlighting various points of interest of both historical and redeveloped buildings.

A panoramic view of the town and mine is then offered from the Arthur Timms Lookout. The tour proceeds along the banks of the Dee River then to the mine site stopping at the special viewing platform, delving through the historical aspects of the 108 years of mining.

Mount Molloy

Mount Molloy was named to honour teamster Patrick Molloy who, in the mid 1880s, found the copper outcrop whilst searching for stray bullocks. Four years he worked it as a one man show, then amid murmurs of "claim jumping", it changed hands.

Castle Rock Dive Site

Castle Rock is a tower of coral at the Agincourt Reefs, accessible from Port Douglas on a day trip. Rising from 25 metres to almost break the surface, Castle Rock is home to trevally, snappers, sweetlips, goatfish, fusiliers, surgeonfish and a very friendly Malabar groper called Colin.

Wreck Bay Dive Site

Port Douglas, Douglas Area
Wreck Bay is located on the eastern side of Agincourt Reef No.3, off Port Douglas, and is a site that can only be dived when conditions are calm. The remains of an old fishing boat gave this site its name, but with little of the wreck to see divers will have more fun exploring the caves, gutters, ledges and bommies at this fascinating dive site.

Mossman Gorge, Daintree National Park

Mossman Gorge is a very accessible and scenic section of Daintree National Park, in the Wet Tropics World Heritage Area. Crystal-clear water cascades over large granite boulders in the Mossman River gorge.

The Point Dive Site

Port Douglas, Douglas Area
The Point is a dive site on Agincourt Reef No.4, off Port Douglas, that both divers and snorkelers will love. For the snorkeler or the inexperienced diver there are fabulous coral gardens in the shallow lagoon, in depths from 1 metre to 8 metres.

Barracuda Bommie Dive Site

With a name like Barracuda Bommie you would expect to see barracuda at this dive site, and fortunately it rarely disappoints. Located on the Agincourt Reefs, off Port Douglas, Barracuda Bommie is a giant pinnacle of coral that rises from the sandy sea floor at 26 metres.

Tucked away between glamorous Port Douglas and the vast wilderness of the World Heritage listed Daintree National Park is the sleepy beachside community of Newell Beach. Newell Beach boasts spectacular views to Port Douglas in the south and the lighthouse on Low Isles to the east.
