The iconic Snapper Rocks point break on the southern Gold Coast makes a fitting backdrop for the Quiksilver and Roxy Pro, marking the opening of the men’s and women’s world championship tours. This event will see the world’s best surfers including Kelly Slater, Mick Fanning, Owen Wright, Stephanie Gilmore, Tyler Wright and Gabriel Medina converge on the world class wave to battle it out for the massive prize purse and valuable world title ratings points.

Finch Hatton War Memorial

The Pioneer Valley sugar towns of Finch Hatton and Netherdale joined forces for their WWI memorial - the popular Queensland choice, a soldier or 'Digger' statue. It was erected on 19 November 1921, paid for through public subscription at a cost of £200, and honours the lives of 16 local men who did not return.
