Indigenous events

Tropical North Queensland is home to both Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island cultures, and these cultures shine at the Keep the Flame of Culture Burning Festival. Find unique Aboriginal art or catch performing acts that merge culture and contemporary dance at Cairns Indigenous Art Fair (CIAF).

Heading north to the Torres Strait? Grab a spot on the grass and enjoy traditional Torres Strait Island dancing at the Winds of Zenadth Cultural Festival.

Join them on a free 30 minute tour of the Art Deco inspired Innisfail Shire Hall! The Innisfail Shire Hall is the jewel in the crown, of the Art Deco Capital of Australia - Innisfail. It was built to provide jobs as part of an employment relief scheme instigated by the Queensland Government during the great depression of the 1930's It was in this climate that the Johnstone Shire Council erected the Shire Hall which has dominated the Innisfail Skyline for over 70 years.

The Feast of the Three Saints

The Feast of the Three Saints is held at St Johns Parish School in Silkwood every year. Silkwood is a short 25 minute drive South from Innisfail The Feast is held annually on the first Sunday in May, to celebrate and Commemorate the lives of three brothers, Saints Alfio, Filadelfo and Cirino, who were martryed for their Christian beliefs.
