In April 2018, the pinnacle of Queensland’s world-class events line-up, the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games married electrifying sporting action with extraordinary arts and culture entertainment and stunning natural surroundings to create a spectacle with a uniquely Queensland flavour.
Spectators witnessed greatness rarely seen as the international celebration of sport and camaraderie took over the Sunshine State for 11 incredible days.
It was one blockbuster event where the action wasn't confined to the stadium. Attendees immersed themselves in Festival 2018, an inspirational arts and cultural program that celebrated the laidback Queensland lifestyle. Others used the GC2018 as a chance to discover the rest of this spectacular state - home to ancient rainforests, outback plains, pristine beaches and the world-famous Great Barrier Reef.
Get active and wander through the city on two-wheels or test your mountain-biking skills in the Coombabah Lakes Conservation Area. And when you want to relax, throw down a towel on a golden beach and soak in the Queensland sun.
Blend in with the locals as you soak up the sunshine and surf at Burleigh beach, stroll through the rocky headlands of Burleigh Heads National Park, and end your day with a fish-n-chip picnic at Burleigh Point Lookout to watch the sun set. Borobi
