The 1770 Festival is held on the weekend closest to 23 May, when HMB Endeavour anchored in Bustard Bay, Queensland, at what is now the town of 1770. This was the second landing on the east coast of Australia.
This year's 27th annual Gladstone Region 1770 Festival kicks off on Friday 24 May with Cook's landing re-enactment on the 1770 foreshore. Saturday 25 commences with the 'Harmony in our Paradise' themed Street Parade travelling from the 1770 Marina to the Festival at 1770 SES Grounds. Sunday 26 May commences with the 1770 Fun Run, suitable for all abilities, with prams having free entry. This starts and finishes at the Festival grounds.
The weekend is full of live entertainment, a wide variety of food, retail and lifestyle stalls, interactive demonstrations, and free workshops for all ages. 2019 has the additions of Surf, Fishing and Eco Precincts, Fashion Parade, extra amusement rides and more, including high profile surfing and fishing personalities. Join in with painting the Harmony Wall and your touch will be viewed for years at future festivals.
