Nestled below the rugged Bellenden Ker Range, the picturesque Goldsborough Valley is cloaked in lush lowland rainforest along the clear flowing waters and deep pools of the Mulgrave River.

Enjoy a relaxing picnic by the river or set up camp in the spacious camping area. Take a short walk through the rainforest to Kearneys Falls or embark on the 19 kilometre one-way Goldfield trail, which will take you over a saddle between Queensland's two highest peaks (Bartle Frere and Bellenden Ker) to the Boulders Scenic Reserve near Babinda. Canoe on the river (best between March and May) or ride a mountain bike 8km along the Goldfield trail to the East Mulgrave causeway.

Wooroonooran National Park stretches along the coastal hinterland from Innisfail to Gordonvale and is part of the Wet Tropics World Heritage Area

Manta Ray Bommie Dive SIte

Manta Ray Bommie is not just one coral head, but a collection of bommies off the western side of Lady Musgrave Island. These bommies come in a range of sizes, in depths from 12 to 20 metres, with the biggest ones decorated with gorgonians, soft corals and sponges.

Musgrave Dropoff

On the southern side of Lady Musgrave Island the reef edge drops from 10 metres to 25 metres and forms an amazing wall of coral. Often simply called Musgrave Dropoff, this extensive wall is rarely dived, but you can jump in anywhere along its length and have a great dive.

Severance Shipwreck Dive Site

Quite a few ships have come to grief on the fringing reef around Lady Elliot Island, but only one of these can be dived, that is the Severance. This fully intact yacht sank in 1998 and still has much of its rigging in place that is now covered in glorious soft corals.

Port Bundaberg

The Burnett River flows out to sea at Burnett Heads, and just upstream is the Port of Bundaberg with its wharves and imposing sugar terminal. Here, the broad reaches of the Burnett are home to the Bundaberg Sailing Club, and as expected, there are boat ramps and car and trailer parking at the river mouth.

Musgrave Channel

For those after a fast-paced drift dive at Lady Musgrave Island then try a dive through the Musgrave Channel. Best done on the incoming tide, so you end up in the lagoon, this channel is a sensational dive and only 13 metres deep.
