Toowoomba Carnival of Flowers

The Toowoomba Carnival of Flowers is a celebration of everything this region has to offer. You’ll find it’s not only the blooms that come out to play at this 10-day festival to welcome spring, but locals and visitors from far and wide who are ready to shake off the shackles of winter with some good food, good wine, and good music.

Earth + Fire: New ceramic creations from members of the Stanthorpe Pottery Club

Earth + Fire refers to the elemental forces at the core of creation in clay and its transformation by fire, fuelled and ignited by challenge and inspiration. Stanthorpe Pottery Club’s new exhibition presents a range of works by potters and sculptors with diverse talents and skills.

Lyra Parker: Smashing barriers of Judgement

Lyra Parker is 28 and lives on the Granite Belt. This is her first major exhibition. Lyra is a mum and a wife. Art is her adventure in life. Her mother is part indigenous, and an elder in Texas, and her father is of English heritage, though Australian born, a brilliant artist himself, this combination of colour and culture reflects within the art pieces, but nothing more unexpected than a vibrant use of colour for landscapes.

Jabu Birriny (Land + Sea) celebrates the unique environment of Yarrabah and its ongoing importance to culture and people. The exhibition brings together stories rich in lineal, past and recent histories through vibrant prints, woven vessels and textured ceramics that embody their land and sea.

Food and Wine Festivals

All things food and wine is something Southern Queensland Country know and do extremely well. So naturally, they celebrate this through a variety of food and wine events throughout the year. As a taste, why not get well acquainted with the Granite Belt region’s produce and booming wine industry at the Apple & Grape Harvest Festival! Or for a true homegrown Aussie experience, the Australian Camp Oven Festival is a must. From damper throwing to billy boiling, this is a weekend of great family fun.
