Port Bundaberg

Bundaberg, Bundaberg Area
The Burnett River flows out to sea at Burnett Heads, and just upstream is the Port of Bundaberg with its wharves and imposing sugar terminal. The Blowhole

Lady Elliot Island, Bundaberg Area
Lady Elliot Island has many wonderful dive sites, but the most dramatic dive site off this coral cay would have to be The Blowhole. Located off the eastern side of the island, this spectacular L-shaped cave opens on the reef top and exits on the reef wall.

Maori Wrasse Bommie Dive Site

Lady Elliot Island, Bundaberg Area
Free Entry
Maori Wrasse Bommie off Lady Elliot Island is named after the family of Maori wrasse that call the area home. The site is located 14 to 18 metres beneath the surface and is ideal for intermediate divers looking to explore – reef sharks can often be spotted patrolling the reef wall and arches near the bommie, and just north of the wall is Spiders Ledge, named for the number of shells that decorate the outcrop.

Spiders Ledge

Lady Elliot Island, Bundaberg Area
Spiders Ledge is a good place to see sharks at Lady Elliot Island. The reef at this site slopes from 8 metres to 25 metres and is cut by a series of gutters and ledges. Pretty corals and abundant reef fish are found at the site, as are turtles and schools of pelagic fish.

Mon Repos

Mon Repos, Bundaberg Area
If you didn't know what the fuss was about, you would think Mon Repos is just another beautiful beach in the Bundaberg region, but nestled in the dunes this beach marks a very special, ancient ritual for the oceans most wise mariners.

Hiros Cave and The Tubes

Lady Elliot Island, Bundaberg Area
The eastern side of Lady Elliot Island is not always dived as it is more exposed to the weather, but this part of the island has some lovely dive sites. A feature of this part of the fringing reef is a wall that drops from 14 metres to 22 metres.
