Open eucalypt forests clothe the hillsides, rainforest grows in sheltered gullies and grasslands cover the more exposed slopes. The Ngaro Aboriginal people lived on and visited these islands for thousands of years. They used fire to flush out game and maintain the natural grasslands. A stone quarry for making tools and weapons remains on South Molle Island.

Bush camp at Sandy or Paddle bays on South Molle. You can also camp on North Molle, Long, Tancred, Planton and Denman islands. Cockatoo Beach (North Molle), Sandy Bay (Long Island) and the South Molle camping areas have picnic tables and toilets.

Our Rooms

Sandy Bay, South Molle Island

Located on the west side of South Molle Island, the Sandy Bay South Molle Island camping ground is only accessible via boat at mid to high tide. There are toilet facilities available but remember to bring everything including drinking water. This is good, open camping area which is well connected to the rest of the island by walking tracks.

Paddle Bay, South Molle Island

The Paddle Bay camping area on South Molle Island is a small shady camping area that overlooks Daydream Island and backs onto the Rainforest. This camping area is accessible via boat at only mid to high tide. There are toilet facilities available but remember to bring everything including drinking water.
