Darr River Downs is a family owned 55,000 acre merino sheep and beef cattle station located 50 minutes drive north west of Longreach, Queensland.
Established in 1873, the property features original sandstone buildings which have been transformed into carefully curated museums, showcasing an extensive private collection significant to the Australian pastoral industry.
Featuring a shearing and wool exhibit, harness and blacksmith area, armory of antique firearms and array of household items, tools and equipment, visitors are personally guided through over 150 years of history.
Accompanied by the owners themselves, the short walking tour narrative is interwoven with stories and real life familiarity, culminating in a relaxing light meal and refreshment in the shady, established gardens or in quiet reflection at sunset overlooking the cemetery.
Accessible by road, light plane or helicopter, Darr River Downs offers a brand new attraction and truly authentic experience for visitors of all ages to the Longreach region.
