Wilson Island

Get in touch

Wilson Island is an exclusive, adults-only eco-retreat located on the Southern Great Barrier Reef, just north of Heron Island. Accessible via boat transfer from Gladstone through Heron Island, Wilson is a secluded coral cay offering a luxurious yet laid-back escape immersed in nature.

With only nine safari-style tents, Wilson Island accommodates a maximum of 18 guests at a time, ensuring absolute privacy and personalised service. The island is powered by solar energy and operates with a strong commitment to sustainability, preserving the pristine environment it calls home.

Guests can snorkel straight off the beach into crystal-clear waters teeming with vibrant coral and marine life. From November to March, green and loggerhead turtles nest and hatch right on the sand. By day, explore the reef, relax in a hammock under the pisonia trees, or enjoy chef-prepared meals in the communal lodge. By night, stargaze under unpolluted skies and fall asleep to the sounds of the ocean.

Wilson Island offers a true digital detox—no phone reception, no television and no Wi-Fi—inviting guests to disconnect from the outside world and reconnect with the rhythms of nature. With barefoot luxury, world-class snorkelling, and a strong eco ethos, Wilson Island is one of the Southern Great Barrier Reef's most intimate and unforgettable experiences.
