Multiple Locations

Indicative Rate * AU$175 to AU$250

Make your own four wheel drive adventure on Fraser Island! Fraser Island is strictly four wheel drive territory and Fraser Island Barges operate vehicle barges from Hervey Bay to help get you there.

Fraser Island Barges operate two services on separate schedules that run daily. The Fraser Venture vehicle barge operates between River Heads / Hervey Bay and Wanggoolba Creek. The Kingfisher Bay vehicle barge operates between River Heads / Hervey Bay and Kingfisher Bay Resort daily.

Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service permits are required for driving and camping on the island. Drivers should be aware of tide times and keep off the beach for two hours either side of high tide.

Our Services

Kingfisher Bay Ferry

The Kingfisher Bay Ferry has three return services which depart River Heads (20 minutes south of Hervey Bay) daily and land at Kingfisher Bay Resort on the western side of Fraser Island. The resort grounds are accessible by two wheel drive vehicles, however The Great Sandy National Park and villages including Eurong Beach Resort are only accessible by four wheel drive vehicles.

Top Tip: When planning your journey, please allow extra time for roadworks.

Fraser Venture Barge

The Fraser Venture departs River Heads (20 minutes south of Hervey Bay) daily, landing at Wanggoolba Creek on the western side of Fraser Island. Crossing time taking approximately 30 minutes. Wanggoolba Creek is the entry point on to Fraser Island and is directly opposite Eurong Beach Resort on the east coast of Fraser Island. It takes approximately 45 minutes (depending on the sand tracks) to access either Kingfisher Bay Resort or Eurong Beach Resort and the eastern beach attractions.

Please note: this is strictly four-wheel-driving territory and it's always advisable to check the QPWS Fraser Island condition report prior to commencing your journey.
