In 1859 on the mail route from Brisbane to Charleville, a small area was taken from the property Victoria Downs and set aside for public use and designated on maps and documents as 'Victoria Downs Reserve'.

123 kilometres south of Mackay, Clairview is a seaside community on the Isaac Coast. Clairview is a rustic beachside community, with golden sands famous for crabbing. Stay beachside and wake to the gentle lapping of the ocean right outside your door.

Kooroorinya Falls Nature Reserve

How did Emerald get its name? It's thanks to a lush green hill - emerald in colour - located just north of the town called 'Emerald Downs Hill'. Established in 1879, this large country town has become the hub of the Central Highlands and gateway to one of the largest sapphire fields in the southern hemisphere.
