Welcome to the ultimate winter cycling escape, bringing together a stunning riding location, dream riding conditions and a world class rider experience on and off the bike.

Velothon Sunshine Coast is a Gran Fondo style, mass participation cycling event in and around the renowned hinterland and coastal roads of the Sunshine Coast.

2017 offered three distances to choose from so there is was epic ride to suit you:
3 Day Velothon 361 kilometres | 5,340 metres of climbing | Solo or Team
1 Day Velothon 152 kilometres | 2,073 metres of climbing | Solo
1 Day Velothon 90 kilometres | 1,037 metres of climbing | Solo

Ride for the love of it, or set your sites on the daily King of the Mountain, Sprint, Team or Stage winners’ jerseys. At the end of each day kick back and relax with your mates and relive every sprint and summit at the Cotton Tree Park Velo Bar and Clubhouse.

Velothon Sunshine Coast is a new take on the traditional European rides.

Ayr

Alva is a relaxed Burdekin location, 15 minutes drive from Ayr. Holiday houses and permanent residences fill the township, with Alva Beach a short stroll over the sand dune. A lookout area is located to the right as you enter the township.

Groper Creek

Groper Creek is a laidback location, where you can sit back, relax and unwind. You can launch your tinnie from the boat ramp, or fish from the jetty. The area is well known for its fantastic fishing and crabbing.

Inkerman Hill

Inkerman Hill, a 10 minute drive south of the township of Home Hill, is currently undergoing an upgrade! With funding received through the Queensland Government's Scenic Lookout Upgrade Program, the Burdekin Shire Council is busy working to bring their valued visitors a more enjoyable experience.

Situated on the southern side of the Burdekin Bridge (known as the Silver Link) with an economy driven by sugar and agriculture, Home Hill offers landscapes dominated by lush green canefields as well as access to some of North Queensland's finest produce.
