The Rural Art Award celebrates the important role creative activities play in the lives of people who live in rural, regional and remote areas.
The Award was open to all Australian residents who live in rural or regional Australia. This is defined as living in a regional council area as opposed to City Council boundaries. The entries need to depict a current rural scene, person or activity (not retrospective of historical Australian rural life or scenes from an earlier time). The objective is to showcase rural life as it is in the 21st century.
Entries had to be original and unaided work of the entrant and not having won a prize in any art competition, excluding Rural Agricultural Shows.
Over 80 entries were received over the five categories. The David Bryce Awards were judged by Peter Breen MA, BTh, ARMIT, MIR. Peter is the Director of Jugglers Art Space Inc in Brisbane.
