1770 Festival

Gladstone Area

22 – 24 May 2020 -

6 - 31 May 2020
Main 1770 Festival is 22 - 24 May 2020

On the weekend closest to 23 & 24 May every year is the 1770 FESTIVAL. Why? Well, this is when the 'HMB Endeavour' anchored in Bustard Bay, Queensland, at what is now the Town of 1770.

This was only the second landing on the east coast of Australia.

The 1770 Festival in May 2020 marks 250 years since the visit by Lt Cook, so to commemorate all things about our past, visit the Town of 1770 and Agnes Water area during this momentous month.

There will be Cook's landing re-enactment on the 1770 Foreshore; indigenous performances; Street Parade of themed floats; live music; fireworks; kids amusements; another fun Vanilla Slice War; food, retail and lifestyle stalls; fashion parade; interactive demonstrations and workshops for all ages.

Festival highlights include the things that Agnes Water & the Town of 1770 are best known for - Surfing, Fishing and Nature - with high profile personalities to match :)

And to mark the 250th anniversary year a time capsule will be part of the May 2020 festivities.
