Many towns lay claim to a bushranger or two. Augathella is no exception as it was here at this tree the notorious Kenniff Brothers would tether their horses when planning a quick getaway.
A detailed history of, notorious bushrangers and cattle duffing brother’s, Patrick and James Kenniff is displayed at the magnificent Coolibah tree, the Kenniff Tree.
The brothers were a part of one of Queensland’s largest manhunts, Patrick Kenniff is believed to be the last bushranger hung in Queensland for his crimes.
