This four day journey from Brisbane begins in the Garden City of Toowoomba, where you can take time to enjoy its beautiful parks, colourful gardens, and relaxed cafe culture. From here, the adventure heads west through Chinchilla and Roma, before arriving at the remarkable landscapes of Carnarvon Gorge National Park.

Set in the heart of Central Queensland, Carnarvon Gorge is a striking oasis of towering sandstone cliffs, lush rainforest pockets, and ancient Aboriginal rock art. Staying nearby allows you to fully experience the atmosphere of the national park, from peaceful daytime walks through the gorge to the sounds of the bush after dark.

The return journey winds back towards Brisbane via Dalby, completing a diverse and rewarding drive that blends vibrant regional towns, rich cultural heritage, and some of Queensland's most memorable natural scenery.

Wander the immaculately tendered floral gardens of Queens Park and see Australia’s finest horse-drawn carriages at the nearby Cobb and Co Museum. Explore Ju Raku En, Australia’s largest Japanese stroll garden and discover Toowoomba’s thriving café culture and foodie scene.

Drive west via Chinchilla and Roma to Carnarvon Gorge National Park, an oasis in the semi-arid heart of Central Queensland. See spectacular sandstone gorge vistas, ancient rainforests and well-preserved Aboriginal rock art on tracks, classified to match bushwalking experience and fitness. Explore the beautiful Moss Garden walk with its splendid waterfall backdrop, ferns and mosses. By day, see kangaroos and wallabies around the picnic area and at night spot night echidnas and listen to the call of yellow-bellied gliders, owls and the bush stone curlew.
