The Marina Precinct boasts an array of restaurants, bars and shops, as well as the luxury Mantra Mackay.

A short stroll from the Marina precinct is Harbour Beach, lush parks with barbecue facilities and a thriving Surf Club. Harbour Beach is also a favourite fishing spot with the locals who catch jew, mackerel, trevally, bream and tuna here.

Picturesque and patrolled Eimeo Beach is also popular with locals, beachgoers and anglers.

After spending some time at Eimeo Beach, head to the Eimeo Pacific Hotel on the clifftop for a cool drink or meal. Overlooking Eimeo Beach, the Coral Sea and islands, it's known as the pub which serves "lunch with the million-dollar view". Owned by the same family for more than 70 years, patrons have the best views in town overlooking Brampton, Keswick and St Bees islands.

Relax and enjoy the beautiful Orchid House, intricately placed in the historic Queens Park gardens, boasting a broad collection of unique and exquisite orchids. The Orchid House is one of the largest and finest orchid display houses in Australia. Built in 1988, the orchids are displayed in a natural type-setting around circular walkways. Stroll through the large collection of stunning orchids in all shapes and sizes, from the bizarre to exotic looking.

Enjoy a walk through to the Mackay Regional Botanic Gardens, followed by a bite to eat at the Lagoons Gallery and Cafe. Located at the southern entrance to the city, the gardens are a showcase of the Central Queensland bio-region.

You'll see spectacular themed gardens, wetland species and wildlife habitats. The Gardens offer free guided tours for visitors to explore the peaceful surrounds of one of Australia's most innovative botanic gardens.

Housed in a quirky, modern building, Artspace Mackay is a regional art gallery and museum operated by the Mackay Regional Council. Enjoy local arts, heritage, and an ever-changing program of international-standard visual arts and social history exhibitions. While you're there, grab a gourmet treat at Foodspace Cafe.

Comprising three tiered lagoons, the Bluewater Lagoon is a free family-friendly leisure facility overlooking the picturesque Pioneer River in the heart of Mackay's city centre. Covering an area equivalent to three 50-metre swimming pools, Bluewater Lagoon provides a safe year round stinger-free swimming environment.
