Discover why Fraser Island is listed as a World Heritage site by exploring its vast sand dunes, sunny beaches, subtropical rainforests and rare perched lakes. The Fraser Island section of the Great Sandy National Park can be enjoyed by foot or four wheel drive.
There are several walking trails on the island - from the 90 kilometre Fraser Island Great Walk, to short boardwalk tracks. Swim in one of the magnificent freshwater lakes, go beach fishing or just sit quietly and observe Mother Nature at her very best. You'll come across a range of native species of plants and animals on the island including the Australian dingo.
You will need to purchase vehicle and camping permits in advance and be wary of the incoming tide when driving along the sand.
