Fishing in Mackay

Avid fisherman will be happy to know that Mackay sits in a unique position at the meeting point of northern and southern fish species, so anglers have the best of both worlds. 

Whether you wrestle with your line on a deep sea fishing expedition through clear tropical waters or on a freshwater inland dam Mackay has a few hot fishing spots to share. Mackay was made for perfect beach fishing spots. Here are a few locations to tick off the list including Mackay Harbour Beach, Armstrong Beach, Blacks Beach, Eimeo Beach, Lamberts Beach and Grasstree Beach. Inland lakes and dams to drop in a line include Lake Barfield, Lake Elphinstone and Theresa Creek Dam. Freshwater fishermen should check out Blacks Creek at Mia Mia, Teemburra Dam and Eungella Dam.

Lake Elphinstone

Theresa Creek Dam
