Shark and Turtle Discovery Expeditions

The Coral Sea (Osprey Reef) and Far Northern Great Barrier Reef are home to many species of sharks and other pelagics. Eye to Eye Marine Encounters runs trips to both these wilderness areas throughout the year providing guests with the opportunity to explore Australia's most remote locations while getting up close and personal with iconic animals in their natural environment.

Expeditions also feature on board biologists and scientists who conduct shark and turtle tagging and tracking, providing an educational and exciting element to this experience. Although these expeditions actively support conservation, there is also plenty of time for recreational diving and exploring some of Australia's most isolated and pristine sites along with the other Outer Great Barrier Reef's 'top spots'.

Swim With Minke Whales

Dwarf minke whales travel to the Great Barrier Reef each winter (May - August). While in the area they show a remarkable interest in boats and people, often approaching within a few meters of snorkellers/divers.

Eye to Eye Marine Encounters (E2E) offers 4-6 day live-aboard trips to swim with these friendly little whales. Guests will also snorkel/dive some of the best sites on the Great Barrier Reef and share in the passionate and fun atmosphere fostered by the crew and researchers.

As the original and most experienced operator, E2E helped develop the Code or Practice for swimming with minke whales and have worked tirelessly for the past 20 years to protect them. All encounters are carried out on the whale's terms and E2E maintains a flexible itinerary to make the most out of changing sea conditions and whale behaviours/movements.

As well as providing guests with the best wildlife encounters possible, E2E continues to gives free space to researchers from the Minke Whale Project who conduct fieldwork and give interpretive talks whilst on board, adding a unique element to these trips.

E2E offers both scheduled and custom expeditions.
