1770 LARC! Tours

Multiple Locations

For a trip you will never forget, jump aboard the pink LARC - an amphibious craft that will take you for a ride across deserted sandy beaches and pristine estuaries as you make your way to the isolated Bustard Head Lighthouse located within Eurimbula National Park. This is Queensland's only operating Lighthouse open to the public!

You'll hear the tales of tragedy and triumph as early white settlers and lighthouse keepers struggled to tame this remote wilderness. You will have a guided tour in the light keeper's cottage, now a museum of artefacts and light station memorabilia. You will see some of the prolific wildlife that inhabits the area and you will gasp in awe at the spectacular panoramic view from the balcony of the historic Bustard Head Lighthouse.

And on the way home, you can experience the thrill of sand boarding down the towering dunes of Middle Island. The LARC's (Lighter Amphibious Resupply Cargo Vessels) are named in honour of Sir Joseph Banks and Dr Daniel Carl Solander, the two eminent botanists who accompanied Lieutenant James Cook aboard the Endeavour on their voyage of discovery. Full day tour includes morning tea, lunch and an Aussie Billy tea.

Join them for an authentic indigenous hunting, gathering and tasting experience of a lifetime!
Travel across Round Hill Creek, to the coastline of Eurimbula National Park, where you will take a bush walking tour with our skipper and an indigenous guide.

Enjoy a theatrical experience and learn about the wonderful culture that lived here sustainably for tens of thousands of years..

The concept of the Goolimbil Walkabout tour is for guests to have the opportunity to accompany a hunter and gatherer on an expedition through coastal bushland, then into mangrove wetland and onto littoral rainforest where a gathering place is located. This gathering place is home, place or camp in the Aboriginal language – it can also be called a Gunya, and the local Gooreng Gooreng people refer to it as a Waybare. The Waybare provides a traditional place for dreamtime stories, dance and cultural interaction during Goolimbil Walkabout.
