At this globally-significant site you can learn about these extraordinary animals - a visit to Mon Repos Turtle Centre offers a turtle encounter like very few others in the world. Mon Repos also features Woongarra rainforest scrub, the site of Bert Hinkler's first glider flights, a tidal lagoon, rock pools and an historic basalt stone wall built by South Sea Islanders, who were brought to Queensland from the 1880s to work in the sugar industry. Explore the park on walking tracks and cycling tracks or, if you prefer a slower pace, take a wander along the beach to look at tidal rock pools. Entry to Mon Repos Regional Park is free. Fees apply for night access to the Mon Repos Turtle Centre and Mon Repos Turtle Encounters during turtle season (November to March). Catalonia Mediterranean Restaurant

Bargara, Bundaberg Area
With red checkered table clothes, posy of flowers, and delicious Mediterranean dishes in front of you, you might just forget you are in the sunny coastal town of Bargara. The restaurant was inspired by the owner's trip in beautiful Catalonia in Spain, and they've created a Mediterranean experience that will be as close as you can get to a holiday.
The Bundaberg Distilling Co. was born in 1888, when a band of ingenious Sugar Millers turned a horrendous Molasses surplus into fine Rum. 125 years later, more than 85,000 people visit the BDC Bondstore each year, and not a single one leaves disappointed. Some don't leave, they stick around and soak up the atmosphere of the Bundy Bar, sampling sweet rum at the source. There are two tour options: BDC Story Self Guided Tour - Touch panels and interactive visual displays bring over 125 years of crafting rum to life. You can make this tour as long or as short as you want. BDC Distillery Experience Guided Tour - Your tour guide will lead you to the swirling wells of molasses, mysterious processes of fermentation and distillation, around to the grand Barrelhouse where you walk through an historic oak vat the size of a small house, and then finally to the bottling plant. Adult guests aged 18 years and over (LPA+) are also invited to two samples in the Bundy Tasting Bar at the conclusion of the tour. You can visit the retail store even if you do not go on a tour.
