Mount Mitchell Track

Tarome, Scenic Rim Area

The graded walking track to the twin peaks of Mount Mitchell in Main Range National Park begins on the southern side of the Cunningham Highway at Cunningham's Gap - follow signs at pedestrian exit points. (Take care when crossing the highway). Rainforest and open eucalypt forest will be encountered on this track, which ends on a knife-edge ridge above a sheer cliff on the east peak of Mount Mitchell (1168 metres). This peak is known as Cooyinnirra to the Aboriginal people. Care must be taken at the cliff edge.
Warning: Sheer cliff edges. Remain on the track, stay behind fences, away from cliff edges and supervise children at all times.

In a quiet cul-de-sac on a hill, Boonah Hilltop Cottage is a fully-renovated 1930s home. The spacious front deck offers excellent views of Boonah, with an outlook to Mt. There is a queen-sized bedroom with ensuite, a second bedroom with a double bed. The cottage also has four single beds. A bathroom with a double spa bath, toilet and laundry facilities is provided. Just 20 minutes from the Ipswich Central Business District and 45 minutes from the Brisbane Central Business District, the Hardings Paddock campground is perfect for a weekend getaway for the whole family. Surrounded by natural bushland, there are just eight camping sites - suitable also for motorhomes and caravans - available to add to the feeling of seclusion. While there's no power available, there are some essential creature comforts including toilets, camp-shower cubicles - bring your own shower bag and water - kitchen, barbecues, tables and a holding yard for horses (with access to water). You will need to bring your own drinking water and with all the activities on offer across the 2,200 hectares of the Flinders-Goolman Conservation Estate you're going to need to keep up your fluids. Recreational opportunities include bird-watching, hiking, mountain bike riding and horseriding - bring your own bikes and horses too! The camping area at Hardings Paddock is locked at all times. Main Range National Park Camping Ground

There are three developed camping areas in Main Range National Park; Spicers Gap camping area and the Poplar Flat and Manna Gum camping areas at Goomburra. Private campgrounds are located opposite Queen Mary Falls and at Goomburra. Spicers Gap camping area is located on the eastern side of the range to the south of Cunninghams Gap. The Goomburra camping areas are located on the western side of the range to the north of Cunninghams Gap. All camping areas have facilities; composting toilets and tap-water. Barbecues are provided at Goomburra only. All camping areas are within short walking distances to graded walking tracks. A public phone is available at the private Goomburra Valley campground, located five kilometres west of the park boundary. The phone is located near the office, which is situated approximately 150 metres north of Inverramsay Road at the entrance to the campgrounds. Camping permits are required and fees apply. A tag with your booking number must be displayed at your camp site.

Milford Country Cottages
