Driving north from Brisbane there is an amazing array of iconic tourist attractions, this drive takes you on an adventure where you can experience some of the natural wonders of the Sunshine Coast and Fraser Coast.

This drive is suitable for car or four wheel drive and is mainly on good sealed roads, however there are one or two minor unsealed roads so check routes and conditions before you leave. Let the adventure begin!

30 kilometres north of Brisbane, just off the Bruce Highway, your first wayside stop is Wild Horse Mountain Lookout. Be prepared for a 700 metre walk on paved path to the summit but the 360 degree panoramic view will make it all worthwhile.

Then onto the Sunshine Coast via Caloundra, Maroochydore and Noosa. From there leave the bustle and head toward Boreen Point on the Noosa River, where you can windsurf in amazing conditions or kayak, bushwalk or just relax and watch the kangaroos and birdlife while camping on the shores of Lake Cootharaba, From Boreen Point turn off to Elanda Point and enjoy a picturesque drive to Wolvi, then north east towards the Great Sandy Straits towns of Tin Can Bay and Rainbow Beach. Backtrack and turn off to the river-port city of Maryborough. On the way you can explore the quaint fishing villages of Poona, Maaroom, Boonooroo and Tuan.

You will find Maryborough delightful, well-preserved, full of heritage and history, art and culture, and worthy of further exploration. 35 kilometres north of Maryborough lies Hervey Bay, playground of the Humpback whale, with 11 kilometres of Esplanade, Hervey Bay is a city bursting with luxury and budget accommodation, quality restaurants, beachside cafes and water sports of every kind. Travel the short trip to River Heads to catch the ferry to unique World-Heritage listed Fraser Island.
