Glitter is an arts festival that embraces diversity, encourages freedom of expression and celebrates the unique personality of the Gold Coast. Now in its second year, Glitter 2016 will deliver a varied program of quality local, national and international artists in cabaret, theatre, art gallery displays, films, community, events and much more. Come together and celebrate queer culture right here on the beautiful Gold Coast. Glitter welcomes visitors to the region to experience our unique personality and cultural richness. Proudly presented by The Arts Centre Gold Coast, Glitter continues to be developed in consultation with the local community. The 2016 Glitter Festival program will be released on August 1.

The McDonald's Townsville Running Festival includes a Marathon (42.2 kilometres) Half Marathon (21.1 kilometres), 10K Classic, adult and junior 5 k Run/Walk, 5 kilometre Corporate Challenge and Hero Run. Their AIMS accredited courses are fast, flat and hug the coastline as well as feature the 43rd Townsville Marathon - Australia's second oldest race. All runners experience spectacular views of the Coral Sea, Magnetic Island and the Marina as they follow their tropical blue line and vie for AUD23,000 prize money. With a predawn start marathoners experience a breath taking sunrise over Cleveland Bay as they run along Townsville's award-winning Strand Beach. From where ever you are, come and join Cairns Indigenous Art Fair in 2016, and immerse yourself in a CIAF experience of your own. The CIAF 2015 cultural festivities welcomed more visitors than ever before - 50,000 people attended across all venues - enjoying the diversity of Far North Queensland Indigenous culture and taking the chance to attend and buy the latest in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island art from across Queensland, at the very first CIAF Art Market. The now famous CIAF daily program offers dance and music performances, artist and industry talks, art workshops and film screenings. Cairns cultural venues offer a variety of art form events and gallery exhibitions, creating a celebratory feeling citywide.

Port Shorts Incorporated is dedicated to promoting screen culture and Port Douglas and Daintree as a destination and potential film location with the Port Shorts Film Festival. The Port Shorts Film Festival has been developed to showcase the best emerging filmmakers in Australia, attract film enthusiasts to the destination, promote Port Douglas as a premier location far film enthusiasts and provide pathways for participants to further develop their careers in the Australian film industry. Port Shorts Film Festival categories cater for young filmmakers, local filmmakers and the best short films from around Australia with significant prize money on offer and the chance to be mentored by some of the Australian film industry’s most accomplished exponents. Wolf Creek and Rogue executive producer Matt Hearn and acclaimed actor Stephen Curry are Port Shorts official festival ambassadors and judges, with Stephen also MC on both nights of the festival. As well as providing Port Shorts organisers with advice and industry links, both Matt and Stephen will mentor young filmmakers online with workshops. More than AUD15,000 in cash and prizes is up for grabs at the Port Shorts Film Festival.

The Outback Fringe Festival will be a diverse festival curated to celebrate the arts within the Channel Country and encompass a program of music, film, visual art, comedy, dance, theatre and live demonstrations. There will be an array of performers, tutors and creative minds from Australia wide as well as workshops that everyone can participate in. To be held on July 1 and 2, 2016, just a couple of days before the Big Red Bash in Birdsville, it’s sure to be a great weekend!
