Mount Cotton is in the middle of a koala conservation area and large tracts of land have been set aside to protect the koala's natural habitat. Venman Bushland National Park is a tranquil portion of bushland on Tingalpa Creek abounding in wildlife: koalas, possums, gliders and wallabies. In spring, wildflowers bloom. These 255 acres were sold to the government for one dollar in 1971 by a farmer with a dream of preserving wildlife and its habitat.
