Longreach School of Distance Education

Longreach, Longreach Area

Longreach School of Distance Education (LSODE), or Longreach School of the Air, acts as the heartbeat of education for almost 200 students spread throughout Central West Queensland and beyond. LSODE caters for the education of isolated students in an area 402,712 square kilometres.

They invite you along to experience a 'totally different' way of schooling, to walk in the footsteps of a student or teacher at the LSODE. The classroom and the playground are twice the size of Victoria!

Guided tours are offered twice daily at 9.00am and 10.30am, Monday to Friday (excluding public holidays and during the Christmas holidays). Bookings are necessary for large groups.

Depending on class times visitors may be able to observe and listen to an on-air lesson during the tour. The staff at the school are proud in the knowledge that they are nurturing bright, young and industrious rural Australians. As the LSODE motto indicates "Effort Conquers Distance!"
