The Living Reef on Daydream Island

Daydream Island, Whitsunday Area

Daydream Island Resort & Spa's Living Reef is one of the world's largest man made living coral reef lagoons and one of the jewels of the Whitsundays. Clownfish, stingrays, sharks and barramundi are just some of more than 100 species of marine fish that call the lagoons home. Over 60 species of natural corals add to the this huge ecosystem that represents the lagoon habitats of the Great Barrier Reef.
As an educational example of life on the Great Barrier Reef, Daydream's Living Reef experiences capture the imagination of visitors young and old - without having to get your feet wet!

Stingray Splash - Walk amongst the curious baby stingrays. Marine biologists will guide you through this amazing and unique educational experience; they are de-barbed for safety; aqua shoes are provided; hold a sea star and a sea cucumber; see the coral reef up close; and a number of different species of rays to see and feel.

Guided fish feed - Take part in a hands on educational tour. Feed and touch Pancake & Pikelet, our huge stingrays, see and touch a shark in the shark nursery, photo opportunity with a sea star, feed explosive barramundi in the predator lagoon.
