Cairns, Cairns Area
Positioned 20 kilometres east of Green Island off the Cairns coast, Flynn Reef is home to several dive sites - with the Coral Gardens being just one of them. Despite being in the open ocean, the site has consistently amazing visibility of over 30 metres, and often better than that. This also invites large pelagic fish such as dogtooth tuna, mackerel and barracuda, as well as a range of species of shark, especially white tip reef sharks. Over the past 20 years, feeding by dive operators has caused the resident reef fish to trust divers, allowing you to get quite close. Flynn Reef offers a combination of diving, from dramatic wall dives to intricate coral formations, huge soft corals, and reef flats such as the Coral Gardens.
