Graeme Connors returns to the road with a brand new show. The theme of his 2016 tour, 60 Summers, is also the title of his new album, bringing together the multi-award winning artists hits and favourites, and a selection of new songs, in a career-spanning collection released on Friday 29th April through ABC Music. The 60 Summers show and 2CD set coincide with two important milestones for Graeme in 2016. The first, his 60th birthday, and secondly, the 40th Anniversary of the release of his debut album. In terms of a celebration of Graeme’s life, 60 Summers will be the sum of an outstanding career to date including 18 Albums, 14 Golden Guitars, an ARIA award, two APRA songwriting awards, two American Song Festival Awards, two MO Awards for live performance, 12 Tamworth Songwriters Association Awards, a prestigious Songmaker accolade for contribution to Australian songwriting and a number of his songs recorded by Slim Dusty and John Denver among others.

The Mackay Festival of Arts 2016 will boast a 10 day program covering a wide variety of visual arts, music, theatre, family events, food and wine and much more. 2016 is the 29th year of the Festival, and the program will be bigger and better than ever. The annual Mackay Airport Beach Horse Racing Festival is an iconic event on North Queensland’s sporting and social calendar. While the showpiece of this three-day Festival is the Mackay Airport Beach Race Day attended by more than 3,000 locals and visitors to the region, the Festival also features a legendary Opening Night Party, Charity Golf Challenge and more. Named as one of the Top 10 Social Events in Queensland by the Sunday Mail, the Festival has also reached ‘hallmark’ event status with Tourism and Events Queensland, acknowledged for contributing to the social fabric and economic prosperity of the Mackay Region. This year’s Race Day will feature eight exciting horse races on one of Queensland’s most picturesque beaches. The event is designed to cater to both visitors and locals offering very unique event experiences. These include the very reasonable and family friendly general admission area, the Blokesworld Beach Beer Garden, the exclusive Sand Bar right in the heart of the racing, and the premium Quarter Deck which is Mackay’s answer to The Bird Cage at Flemington.

River To Reef Charity Ride

The Thiess River 2 Reef Rid charity event is a mass participation ride, not a race, to raise funds for two local charities - RACQ CQ Rescue and Sporting Wheelies and Disabled Association and to encourage more people to become active and involved in cycling. This year’s event is to be held in Mackay on Saturday 1st October, 2016. Last year this event attracted thousands of cyclists. Every year this stand out community event grows and grows to be an event the region can hang their hat on. There are four ride distances to choose from: 35km, 60km, 90km or 135km. They'll finish at the Blue Water Quay where breakfast food stalls will be operating - perfect for your friends and family to greet you when you cross the line. The Thiess River 2 Reef Ride is a fantastic opportunity to get outdoors and enjoy the glorious scenery Mackay has to offer while raising money for worthwhile causes.

This event showcases products and services for the home and outdoor living, solar, tanks, pools and spas, kitchens, air-conditioning, Blinds, Builders, Finance, builders and more. Plus the Caravan and Camping Expo will see the latest and greatest Vans, Camper Trailers, Motorhomes and camping gear on show, with great show only specials.

Mackay Marina Run

Mackay is a booming Queensland Region and the BMA Mackay Marina Run is the signature running event for the exciting and expanding city of Mackay. The event showcases the spectacular features of the tropical coastal city and celebrates the role that fun and fitness has in the community. While attracting running enthusiasts from around the country it also has a key focus of attracting first time competitors through the provision of a half marathon, an eight kilometre run, a five kilometre fun run, five kilometre corporate challenge and three kilometre junior dash. Significant funds are raised for the Leukaemia Foundation. Entertainment is provided at certain locations on the course including traditional jazz, rock n roll and folk to enhance the great feel to the event.

The Mackay Airport Beach Horse Racing Festival is a unique combination of events surrounding the festival highlight, The Mackay Airport Beach Race Day. Over 7000 people are expected to converge on Mackay Harbour Beach on Saturday 27 August 2016 to witness the fifth annual running of this exciting spectacle. The lead up to the race day offers visitors a great opportunity to experience some famous and fabulous Mackay hospitality and weather. From Thursday, a cocktail party, a fun charity golf day and Garden Party/Calcutta are all part of the fun.
