Such activities work towards stabilising the dunes, providing habitat for native species and protecting the coastline. Everyone is always welcome to participate in BeachCare community days; no experience necessary, bring along a hat, wear sunscreen and all equipment and refreshments are supplied. The Classic Holidays National Kiteboarding League (NKL) Grand Final is coming to Main Beach on the Gold Coast. Following the national heat rounds across Australia and New Zealand. the best kiteboarders from both countries will battle it out on the water in an exciting competition, with a huge display of speed, air and tricks to find the top male and female kiters in Wave and Freestyle divisions in the first year of the NKL. Catch all the action in the water and on the beach, with the half time Cabrinha 'Big Air' Competition set to launch kiteboarders to jawdropping heights.

Gold Coast MS Swimathon

The Sports Super Centre at Runaway Bay on the Gold Coast will once again host the first MS Swimathon event of the year to raise vital funds to help people living with multiple sclerosis (MS). It doesn't matter if you can do 100 fast laps or doggy paddle one, everyone can join in, have fun and support people living with MS - an incurable disease which affects a person's central nervous system. Designed as a relay event, teams must have one swimmer in the water at all times throughout the entire 12 hour event period. Participants can raise donations by asking for a one off donation from friends and family or being sponsored based on the number of laps they can do. Registrations open 14 December so get involved to help support those individuals living with MS and their families.

They'll also ask you to keep your eyes peeled for any beach litter and help them remove some weeds. Activities are suitable for all ages and fitness levels. Please be sure to wear enclosed shoes otherwise you won't be able to help out. Equipment and light refreshments will be provided, please bring a water bottle and wear sunsmart clothing.
