An Evening with Steve Wozniak

Multiple Locations
26 August 2016
In August of 2016, Australia will have the pleasure of being in the company of someone who can be said to have truly, literally changed the world. Among the many accomplishments for which Steve “Woz” Wozniak is renowned, two stand out above the rest: the inventor of the personal computer, and – along with Steve Jobs – the co-founder of Apple. Woz’s inventions have been as innovative as the path along which he has travelled to reach his destination. Despite a net worth of US$100 million, hubris has not stood in the way of humility for Woz as he consistently values a good old-fashioned work ethic of pleasure over profit. No stranger to moonlighting (developing the PC on his nights while working at HP), Woz is also a well-renowned philanthropist, a motivational speaker (without the woowoo), and, importantly, a strong champion for STEM education. Hosted by Think Inc., ‘An evening with Steve Wozniak’ will entertain, educate, and inspire anyone with ideas, and ideas for ideas: “The world needs inventors– great ones. You can be one. If you love what you do and are willing to do what it really takes, it’s within your reach.”

21 September 2016
An inquisitive group exhibition exploring the concept vintage, this theme-specific group exhibition is made up of six female artists (Chantel Schott, Corrina McLaughlin, Hayley Groves George, OmiLee, Rochelle Blakelock and Susie Lewis) exploring their relationships with times and places from the past, deciphering through personal discoveries including how to make something old new again and toying around with the question “is vintage an antiquated notion?” It comprises a number of sculptural and theme-specific photographs as well as small and large scale meticulous drawings and linocut prints, not to mention expressive paintings on both canvas and timber panels, showcasing an all-embracing exhibition to energize and awaken those notions. Official opening, Saturday, 24 September at 4:30pm, refreshments will be served and all are welcome. Market day, including workshops, and live demonstrations, Saturday, 8 October from 1:00pm to 4:00pm.
