Paradise Dam Recreation Park

Paradise Dam is only 100 kilometres south-west of Bundaberg and 35 kilometres from the quaint country town of Biggenden. The Dam lies on the beautiful Burnett River and is renowned fresh water fishing. Other water sports include boating, skiing, tubing, sailing and swimming.

The facilities at Paradise Dam include non powered camping sites, environmentally friendly toilets (no showers), covered gas barbecues, concrete boat ramp, fish cleaning stations, information centre and kiosk.

There are some very interesting walks including a hike along the five kilometre Finney Creek walking trail, a shorter walk around the Heritage Trail, a walk down Campbell Road to the historic Paradise Cemetery or a short drive to view a kiln which was built for burning agricultural limestone to make cement powder. Experience a walk along the Bicentennial National Trail which runs along the edge of Paradise reserve.

Childers Festival

The 2016 Childers Festival, on the last weekend in July, Saturday 30 and Sunday 31, is the only festival in Queensland that stops a highway, closing the mighty Bruce Highway! The festival transforms the highway into a gigantic food, market stall and entertainment hub, all staged between the heritage listed buildings and leopard tree lined streets of Childers, just 40 minutes west of Bundaberg and three and a half hours north of Brisbane. With free admission both days, the event kicks off on the Saturday afternoon from 2pm with a street party and lively bands performing well into the night. The main festival day, which closes the Bruce Highway is on the Sunday, kicking off from 9am to 3.30pm and features five stages of non-stop music, hundreds of market stalls and a smorgasbord of food from all over the world.

Participants in the instameet will have a list of five "targets" or "items" to photograph and post to Instagram with relevant hashtags and one hour to complete the list. The list of targets or items will be given to participants at the meeting before the instameet starts. Afterwards a highly experienced Instagram moderator will judge the entries and award the best post for each target and one overall winner. Each category winner and the overall winner will receive a prize!

Gayndah Race Day

Gayndah was the headquarters of the first Queensland Jockey Club and the venue for Queensland's first Derby in 1868. Gayndah Racecourse was also home to the North Australia Jockey Club and the first Ladies Side Saddle Race in 1880. The race course was heritage listed in 2005. This historic track is still in use today for gazetted race meetings with the first meeting for 2016 being held on 11 June 2016. Another great meet is to be held in October 2016 (date to be confirmed).The track is located at the far end of Arthur Street, Gayndah. Free taxi is provided to and from the town area. Come and join in the fun on a great day out and mingle with the friendly locals.

Come and celebrate Creak at the Creek for Seniors Week at beautiful Apple Tree Creeks craft, farmers and trash and treasure markets on August 13 2016. The markets will be specifically aimed at seniors with fun and games, sing a long with Bundy Flukes Ukulele group and a cent sale with free Sausage Sizzle lunch (raffle tickets for sale from 10.30-11am), and other exciting events such as motorised scooter races from 9am if there is enough interest and Seniors Zumba. Event is open to everyone, not just Seniors.....the more the merrier. There will be a free taxi running between Childers and the Creek. There will also be lots of bargains to be had, new stalls every markets, gourmet alley, live music, fantastic food from the canteen. The event supports local clubs and groups, with stalls always available. The event is on from 7am till 12.45pm. Parking will be available at the back of the markets.

Apple Tree Creek Markets

Come and grab a bargain at the beautiful Apple Tree Creek Markets on the second Saturday of each month from 7am (except January). There will be lots of varied stalls from crafts, plants, Bric a Brac, gifts, tools and much more, something to interest everyone. Early birds can enjoy a tasty hamburger and coffee from their on-site canteen. There is live entertainment and buskers are welcome. Free Face Painting for the kids most markets. Feel free to bring the car or utility along and sell your goods from the boot plus new stall holders and swappers are welcome, walk in and walk out sites are available. Visitors are welcome to bring their dogs but they must be on a leash at all times. Fundraisers are free. Parking is available at the back of the grounds via an entrance near the Memorial.
