Mount Garnet Travellers Park is situated just south of Mount Garnet township and approximately 300 metres off Savannah Way. Mount Garnet, at 700 metres above sea level offers a 'naturally air-conditioned' climate. The Park has an array of well-established and well-maintained gardens. This ideal bush setting offers peace and tranquillity, with the joy of bird life and an evening sky bright with stars.

It boasts nice shady drive through sites, powered and non-powered sites, air-conditioned cabins, great camp kitchen, camping sites, and clean modern amenities. Pets are welcome (on a leash). Close by is a café, which serves good take away meals. In the township of Mount Garnet, which is less than a kilometre away from the park, you will find a supermarket, post office and the Mount Garnet Hotel, where very good meals and cold beers are served. There is also a Top Shop, which incorporates a newsagency and bakery.

MAYO Arts Festival

On Friday 27 May and Saturday 28 May, St Margaret’s biennial MAYO Arts Festival will once again take its place in Queensland's cultural calendar. The festival will be officially launched 6.30pm Friday 27 May at the opening night cocktail party. This event will prove to be the first opportunity for guests to purchase their favourite piece of art from the magnificent collection on exhibition. On Saturday 28 May, midday ushers in the festival in full swing with a range of free and ticketed activities, rides, workshops and entertainment for all ages. MAYO Arts Festival guests can roll up their sleeves and release their inner artist with a variety of workshops hosted by some of their most talented artists and community members. Workshops also offer guests the chance to create their own jewellery; stitch or weave a colourful keepsake; assemble a micro-climate terrarium, and even design their own wearable floral head piece. Adding to the festival atmosphere will be a steady stream of performances as well as gourmet food and wine offerings in the food laneway, where festival goers can taste the flavours of international cuisine or nibble on a variety of sweet and savoury carnival snacks from sideshow alley.

Last year, an amped-up crowd of over 100,000 people attended Cooly Rocks On, held in the colourful, vibrant and beautiful beachside destinations of Coolangatta and Tweed Heads. More than 50 rock’n’roll and rockabilly bands will rock the crowd at outdoor concerts, beachside marquee events and performances at local clubs and venues throughout the border towns.

Cooly Rocks On, Australia's coolest celebration of the 50s & 50s is now in its 5th year! The annual Sharp Motor Group Cooly Rocks On Street Parade is a spectacular and much-loved tradition of Australia's number one nostalgia festival! The Sharp Motor Group Street Parade will take place on Saturday 11 June, leaving Musgrave Street Kirra at 9.30am and continuing along Marine Parade Coolangatta. The two kilometre procession of colour and fun will also travel along Griffith Street allowing more vantage points in Coolangatta’s two main streets. During the Grand Finale weekend, 11 and 12 June, the two main streets in Coolangatta will close to traffic to make way for a giant street party. Five outdoor music stages, music and dancing will fill the streets and almost every pub and club in the Cooly Rocks On precinct will be venues for live music and dancing.

Townsville Fashion Festival

The extremely creative team of designers, hair and makeup artists will produce work of a caliber that would not be out of place on a national fashion runway event. Fine food, drinks and entertainment are the support acts to a night of glamour on the runway. Wearable art designs from the regions schools will also be showcased on the runway exploring the talented youth of the region. Special Guest: Rachel Finch Showcasing style, creativity and passion, the Townsville Fashion Festival engages all facets of the creative industries including retail, design, manufacturing, hair and beauty, photography, venues, restaurants and media. The aim is to profile, celebrate, encourage and support the established and emerging local fashion industry. The Townsville Fashion Festival is now the only fashion festival to be held in Queensland in 2016 and is expected to attract a state-wide audience.

The Heartland Festival is earthy and delicious and a little bit country. It is a celebration of all things made, grown and produced in the North Burnett. The market day on Saturday, July 9, will boast stalls that showcase local produce and products plus entertainment, workshops and displays and plenty of ready-to-eat food. The weekend also includes a Wine and Cheese Art Evening at the Gayndah Art Gallery on Friday, July 8, a First Class Heritage Railway Dinner on the Saturday evening and a working bullock display and farm tour at Gleneden Organic Farm on Sunday, July 9, which can be packaged with coach transfers to and from a Long Table Lunch being hosted in Mundubbera. The Miss Cooly Rocks On Vintage Glamour pageant highlights the synergy between 50s and 60s vintage glamour fashion and the annual nostalgia festival. 12 finalists will be selected, and the bevy of beauties will be sashed at an event on Friday 10 June from 7pm at the Beach House Seaside Resort, Coolangatta. There will be live entertainment at the Beach House venue overlooking Coolangatta Beach. The 12 finalists will be stars of the street parade on Saturday 11 June when they dress to the nines and take their places in classic cars for the Sharp Motor Group Cooly Rocks On Street Parade, from 9.30am. On Saturday 11 June the Miss Cooly Rocks On finals take place at Komune Resort and Beach Club, Coolangatta. Tickets to the judging of Miss Cooly Rocks On include a glass of bubbly upon arrival.
