Montes Reef Resort is a natural paradise for relaxation, situated at Cape Gloucester by the magnificent Gloucester Island, 40 kilometres north of the Whitsundays.

Montes is secluded and somewhat isolated but accessible by all types of vehicles. It has an all tide sandy beach. Every spacious self contained, air conditioned bungalow is right on the waters edge, with 180 degree panoramic views. There are one and two bedroom cabins to choose from. Facilities include a beachfront bar and restaurant, tennis court, cricket pitch, trampoline, hammocks, boat ramp and wood barbecue areas.

Activities include snorkelling, fishing, canoeing, turtle spotting, bush walks, wild life walks and much more - it's all up to you! Established in the 1970s Montes has its own individual character and with only eight bungalows this feels like your own piece of paradise, making this the perfect getaway.

Running in April 2017 over four huge days, the annual Cully Fest Outback and Aboriginal Folk Festival is a friendly, down-to-earth gathering, where artists maintain Outback traditions and inspire community spirit by sharing their skills. There are many unique points of interest about Cully Fest but one that is significant is Kids can join traditional and contemporary performance art workshops, and Australia’s best musicians will come together and celebrate all that’s great about the Outback and Aboriginal cultures. Cully Fest is challenging, educational and most of all it is awesome fun for all members of the family and you’re invited. Cully Fest Outback and Aboriginal Folk Festival means festival goers will have a unique opportunity over four days and three nights to really immerse themselves in Outback and Aboriginal cultures and traditions like never before. Cully Fest you will see how didgeridoos are made and learn to cook an emu in a traditional Kup Murri and taste delicious Johnny Cakes fried scones and other bush herbs and foods fresh from the fire. Sarina Festival is an annual event held in Sarina, promoting the community, families and business. It brings together the arts, entertainment, & culture. A gold coin entry fee, with free rides and live entertainment. The event commences at 2pm and continues with family fun and activities until 8pm. The theme of this years event is "Steam, Punk, Rock" with a fashion parade and performers dressed in this theme. A prize is on offer for the best dressed. Just on dark a lantern parade heralds the start of the spectacular animated digital projection produced by children from the local schools, continuing with the theme of the event. Great food is on offer and a licensed bar is available. The venue offers a secure location fully fenced with lighting at night.

Wolf Creek and Rogue executive producer Matt Hearn and acclaimed actor Stephen Curry are Port Shorts official festival ambassadors and judges, with Stephen also MC on both nights of the festival.
