Hillview Cottages is a unique Booie Range retreat and is the perfect place to stay while you discover the beautiful South Burnett and Bunya Mountains. There are three self-contained and fully equipped air conditioned cottages (all with double spa baths and wood fires) overlooking this magnificent 57 acre property which has views that will make you sigh and are so good for the soul. Each cottage has its own historic charm - from a converted dairy and a worker’s cottage to a historic church (circa 1912).

Only two and a half hours drive from Brisbane or two hours from the Sunshine Coast or Toowoomba, Hillview is the perfect destination to recharge the batteries in an area that has everything you need for a great break away. While in the South Burnett enjoy the wineries, museums, art galleries, restaurants and quaint country towns, all within a short drive of Hillview. Visit Pottique Lavender Farm for a huge array of antiques and collectables and all things lavender or visit historic Taabinga Homestead or Ringsfield House. At night visit the Kingaroy Observatory for an amazing experience.

Our Rooms

This modern stylish two bedroom cottage is perfect for two couples or a family. Comfortably sleeping six adults (two queen beds and two singles) it boasts two bathrooms, fully appointed granite and timber kitchen, marble vanity and double spa in the ensuite, wood fire, television, DVD, PS2, CD, games and a large terraced barbecue area perfect for playing bocce or just relaxing. Every room of this tastefully decorated cottage has magnificent views of the South Burnett countryside.

The Cottage is the perfect place for couples to relax and enjoy the majestic views. With a three metre wide veranda to enjoy a bottle of wine whilst watching the sunset, and a beautiful private enclosed spa bath overlooking the brilliant rich red soils of the Burnett, the cottage is the perfect honeymoon or child free destination. Designed for couples it has one bedroom, separate lounge, eat-in kitchen and bathroom. With lovely tongue and groove walls and polished floors the simplicity of the cottage entices you to relax and unwind.

This charming building was originally built in 1912 in the valley below Hillview, at Memerambi. It has now been beautifully renovated in period style and is just for couples. Complete with all home comforts, it is an open plan design featuring a beautiful four poster bed with lace canopy, wood fireplace, separate kitchen and large bathroom complete with double spa bath. The double french doors lead onto your private paved deck. Come and experience the tranquillity of yesteryear.

Heritage Nanango Country Muster

Nanango Show Society holds its annual Country Muster featuring traditional Australian Country Music on the second weekend in September. It's four days full of country music, poetry, gospel and all those things that make the Australian Bush lifestyle great. The committee prides itself on the choice of artists as well as the variety from year to year. In the days leading up to the festival you are entertained by "Walk Up Artists" who are itching to showcase their talent. The festival was foundered in 2003 to provide an event that encourages tourists to stop and experience the warm country hospitality of Nanango and the South Burnett. So bring your caravan, tent, ute, or whatever you have and settle in for the celebrations of this traditional style of music. Full camping facilities available from the Monday, 1 September (bookings essential). Plenty of hot showers and toilets available. A real bush atmosphere.

Kingsley Grove Estate would love you to join them to celebrate South Burnett and Cherbourg on Show, where they are offering a wine tasting Masterclass at our cellar door situated within their working winery. Their winemaker, Simon Berry, loves to share his passion and knowledge about wine in Queensland with a focus on their own South Burnett region. Simon will provide an overview of Queensland’s wine regions and an in-depth look at the history and evolution of the industry in the South Burnett. He will then guide you through a selection of his wines while you enjoy a locally sourced cheese plate. You will make interesting discoveries and get insights, tasting notes as well as food pairing ideas and experience a most interesting and entertaining 60 minutes with like-minded wine lovers. Please feel free to stay on for lunch and enjoy one of our homemade wood-fired pizzas. Places are limited. Tickets are free, but essential. Gluten free options are available, please email your requirements after purchasing your tickets.

An annual festival of events held over the Queensland long weekend in October to showcase the South Burnett Region and Cherbourg Shire. A range of events that embrace the region's indigenous culture, arts, music, heritage, foods, wines, sports, adventure, natural attractions and country living. Various events held across the region offering something for every taste and interest including attending a Wine Masterclass at Kingsley Grove Estate, getting hands on at a Heritage Day at the Queensland Dairy Museum in Murgon, enjoying a Picnic in the Paddock at Bunya Red Farm, chilling out at the Maidenwell Folk Festival hosted at the Maidenwell Hotel, appreciating fine art at Wondai and Kingaroy Art Galleries, immerse yourself in indigenous culture at Yhurri Gurri US Mob Arts & Cultural Festival, and relax with Music on the Mountains at the Bunya Mountains. Opening dinner Friday 30 September smorgasboard including local wine, hosted at Dimities Cottage Wondai and afterparty at Wondai Hotel presenting Muddy Flats.

The Nanango A. P. and M. Society Incorporated, (The Nanango Show Society) is presenting the 5th Annual Waterhole Rocks Rock n Roll Campout weekend. The program for this event is actually a combination of three events all combined into one. Rock 'n' Roll music and dancing, Custom Cars and Hot Rods, and competitions with a Car and Vintage Caravan Show Show Show N Shine with Grass Driving and Games. Along with the Rock 'n'Roll bands there will be entertainers performing all weekend with free dance lessions (rock 'n' roll) for the public. The show society will be running a canteen during the weekend and there will be plenty of camping available to patrons who wish to enjoy the event first hand.

An exciting family heritage day at Queensland Dairy and Heritage Museum Murgon, Saturday October 1. Come and be amazed at how our settlers coped and the ingenuity they displayed in agriculture and domestic activities. A day not to be missed. Attractions on the day include: food and children’s entertainment, entertainment to suit all ages, butter making demonstrations, antique engines, rope making, draft horses, blacksmithing, spinning and leather work, animal nursery, country music, bush poet, antique car display and all things heritage, for some a trip down memory lane and educational for others.

The Bunya Mountains Community Markets are held on the last Sunday of every month from 9am to 2pm. Enjoy over 30 market stalls with locally grown produce, homemade products, art and craft. Located within the iconic Bunya Mountains National Park the markets make for a fantastic day out for the entire family. Some of the ‘must-tries’ include a variety of food made with the local Bunya nuts, such as the Bunya burgers, beef and Bunya pies, scones, carrot cake and the famous Bunya nut icecream. There is plenty of space to sit, relax and enjoy a picnic lunch. There is something magical about the Bunya Mountains that forces its visitors to relax; a unique combination of crisp clean mountain air, soaring pines and majestic scenery. Spend days doing as much or as little as you desire. Enjoy a short or long bushwalk, horse cart ride, or immerse yourself in this a bird watcher’s paradise.
